7 Deadly Sins - Lust

And heeeeeeeeere's the final installment in my "Redwall's 7 Deadly Sins" series, people! Representing the final sin, Lust, are the infamous weasel assassins, Ferahgo and Klitch!

Now, where to start on this one? Okay...

Usually when people think of lust, they think of sex. But, considering that this is Redwall, a children's series, well, I decided to go for lust's second-most known meaning: power. Plus, the color that's associated with lust is blue. 

So, lust for power + the color blue + Redwall-themed = Ferahgo the blue-eyed Assassin who's own lust for power was the undoing of not only himself, but of the lives of 4000 vermin and several hares and one Badger Lord. Of course I was going to include Klitch, how could I not? 

And what's more, I realized with having both weasels, I could have them each represent the most well-known aspects of Lust: Ferahgo is Lust for Power, and Klitch is Lust for Sex. Before you question my choice for Klitch by pointing out he didn't really seem the horny type, I'd like to point out that while he might not have suffered from a lust for sex, I think he would be the type to use it.

I mean, consider this: Klitch charmed and manipulated Mara's own lusts for freedom and/or rebellion in order to get his way, which, had Jacques used human characters for his stories, could been seen as a sleazy teenage boy seducing a naive teenage girl. Of course, due to the differences in their species, their relationship is rarely ever seen like that (although ironically, Klitch's relationship with his lackey Goffa has been misconstrued on some eyebrow-raising levels - you know who you are who's done that! ). But either way, I think Klitch counts in that regard.

Not only that, but both Ferahgo and Klitch are the first vermin in the series to be described as good-looking (true, in "Mossflower" Tsarmina called Bane "handsome", but that was during the time when she was draping him in Ashleg's old cloak in order to get Argulor to kill the fox, so she could have just been saying that to pander to his ego; the book itself never stated if Bane was actually handsome or not). In fact, the weasels are described as being *very* good-looking, to the point where even some of the hares compliment them on it at one time or another. 

Plus, it seems like a lucky coincidence that their eye color matches the sin's theme-color (or maybe Jacques knew about it beforehand? Hahaha, yeah right). Soooo, yeah. 

Onto the character's designs: 

Its a pretty common thing for Ferahgo to be designed wearing a yellow shirt of some kind, which is odd considering how he's never described wearing a shirt in the book. I decided to go with the book's description and leave any shirt out - I mean, hey, this pic's theme is Lust, so, why not? I pretty much just followed what the book said he wore: broadbelt (had to google images of that), crossbelts, and a kilt of furskins, as well as a badger medallion (I tried to find if the book ever went into detail of what it looked like but couldn't find any, so I ended up stealing 's design from her own portrait, so give her the credit for that ).

As you can see, he's also got a cloak on, but that's because this whole pic is depicting the Assassins actually being successful in their conquest in taking over the mountain, and they're reaping the spoils. The cloak used to belong to a Badger Lord (or Lady), and so its a bit big on the weasel warlord, but I doubt Ferahgo would care. Plus he's also got one of the gold goblets and pearls that came from the treasure hidden in the mountain (although come to think of it, even if the vermin had taken over Salamandastron, they probably wouldn't have been able to find said treasure due to it being hidden by a rock so large even Urthwyte had some trouble moving it). 

Klitch's wardrobe is also based more off what the book says as opposed to how he's normally portrayed in fanwork and other places: he's not wearing a hat (funny, its Samkim who wore the beret with the feather in it, yet somehow Klitch wound up with it on the book cover). And of course I couldn't resist having his shoulder-strap sliding down - I mean hey, we're talking about Lust here, people! I have to have a theme going on!

Naturally I ended up having to trace over Ferahgo's head in order for Klitch to coming out looking almost identical to his father, although I had to make little changes here and there to make the age difference between them obvious: Ferahgo has wrinkles and creases around his eyes, and his fur is grayer; Klitch is thinner and smaller.

Also, I should also point out I based Ferahgo and Klitch's eyes off of a pic made: www.deviantart.com/art/Evil-bo… I just thought that was a perfect way of capturing just how blue the weasel's eyes were and decided to incorporate that in my own drawing. 

Finally, I added in the Assassin's own banners/tapestries as a symbol of their triumph. I can't remember if they were described in the books or not, but I ended up basing them off of this pic: redwall.wikia.com/wiki/File:Co… That, I'm somewhat proud to say, was done entirely by mouse, because I didn't want to have go through the trouble of scanning another drawing. Although I did have to some some line tools and such for the rougher parts, but overall, I'm pleased at how it came out.

So there we have it. My last pic in this series! I hope you all enjoyed it, and I may end up doing another series like this, as suggested by to do the 7 Heavenly Virtues, but I've got nothing planned for now.
